TODAY I’M INSPIRED BY….
Samantha Hahn. Super talented Manhattan based illustrator. I could fill my walls with her stunning work! Check it out.
When a friend of mine approached me to design a logo for a new company he was starting I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I heard the name ‘Foam Your Home’ fluffy images immediately came to mind. Then I heard ‘insulation’ and I thought of the more masculine world of construction. Finally I was told this was an environmentally friendly eco insulation and that this identity needed to portray these benefits as well. I took the challenge of connecting these contrary styles by using a colour combo of mixed-cement grey and fluorescent green with a strong stencil typeface that also had a foamy roundness. This is what I came up with: something masculine, modern and fresh with a friendliness that would definitely stand out in the market.
Here are a couple newspaper ads I did to promote a new online Canadian shopping retailer that offers designer brands not found on any other Canadian retailer site. We had two targets - the independent single female that loves to shop but can’t always find time in her hectic schedule, and the fashion savvy mom who’s juggling her career and family. Since it’s a new brand we wanted attention grabbing headlines and photos that showed off the amazing product. These were full page and ran nationally in the Globe and Mail.
It’s Cocktail Hour! Here’s a new promotion that I worked on for the LCBO. We did a series of in store banners and POP as well as a 44 page magazine. All of the photography was shot with Mark Olsen in Toronto. It’s in store now so look out for it!
Some great coverage of the Cougar Boots ‘How Far Would You Go’ contest :)
As a part of the Cougar Boots Fall Launch campaign we did a contest called ‘How Far Would You Go For a Great Pair of Boots’. Participants from across Canada wrote in to tell us what they would do to win a limited edition pair of boots for them and a friend. What they didn’t know is that they would actually have to do it. We travelled to Calgary, Halifax and Ontario to ambush the winners. Here is one of the videos we shot in a small town outside of Calgary. Credits to Livedress.com (who hosted the videos) and Chris Chilco who directed them along with our fabulous crew.
More videos on youtube under ‘Cougar - how far would you go’. Enjoy!

This is the packaging I designed for the Limited Edition Cougar Pillow Boots. Only 900 pairs were made so we wanted to make the packaging feel special. It included a box with a gold foil logo and printed red ribbon. Inside we did custom gold plaid tissue paper and an embossed gold envelope with a certificate of authenticity. The tag on the boots was also designed and layered into three with a natural embossed outer tag, shiny red plaid second tag and a white and gold inner tag all tied together with a red string and gold stopper. The last part of the package was a small acordian lookbook with lifestyle photography and a clear spot varnish with the word ‘Pillow’ going over top of the images. All together it’s a nice little package! Hope you like it!
This is the latest campaign I designed for the LCBO. It’s in store signage for their GoLocal program for Ontario wines. Our tagline is ‘Find your favourite’. All of the product was shot and I got the opportunity to work with some great Toronto based photographers like Rob Fiocca and Monica McKenna. It’s in stores now through to October so please go take a look if you’re in the area and of course buy some wine!
